03.03.24 - The Space Between

Hello and good morning, friends.

I have been sharing with some friends lately a sense of what I've been calling "internal restructuring." My chaplaincy graduation is coming up and there is something about it that has caused my internal landscape to need some adjustments. It's been an interesting experience and one that's hard to describe. There's a lot about the graduation that is forcing me outside of my comfort zones and also asking me to cross a threshold into something of the unknown.

In this process also, I've found that my best laid plans have gone awry. Some old habits that needs to move out of the way tend to hold on more tightly in the shift. We like what we know and what's comfortable, we hold on even when we should let go. This happens in all kinds of ways. But maybe I (we?) can learn to go with those internal shifts make space for new things to come through, despite the desire to hold on.

Today, we're experimenting with space: space between thoughts, between action and reaction, space in the breath cycle. What can find we find in these places that we may not spend much time in?
