04.06.24 - Lovingkindness
Hello, friends.
As our compassion practice series kicks off on Monday, I thought that we could take a trip into the archives for this lovingkindness meditation. This practice has been one of the most impactful in my life. It is something that I return to regularly and hold very dear.
We talk often here about being open or finding ways to soften, slow down, connect... This is a practice for all of those things. It is a practice for when you're angry, for when you're scared, for when you feel alone. It is a practice that highlights our interconnection with the world around us. If you find yourself falling into cynicism about the world, this practice can help.
If it sounds like I'm hyping it up a bit too much, I assure you that I am not. Though I also recognize that this practice is not for everyone. It can be a bit activating in some circumstances and so I think it also needs to be held lightly. We'll talk about that in class.
Speaking of class, we will be focusing primarily on this practice, breaking things down each week and focusing on one group at a time. At the end, we'll also learn another practice that I feel takes a lot of foundational work before engaging with.
To get a little preview of things, I offer you this meditation today. It's a little longer than our usual with a bit more instruction. I hope it inspires you in one way or another to explore this practice further.

If you'd like to join the series, sign up here. It is, of course, by donation and while there is a suggested amount, please do not let finances be a barrier (for this or any other offering of mine).
If you are not local to Columbus or there are other reasons you cannot be in person, and you would like to join this series virtually, please simply reply to this email or contact me here.
Thanks so much for spending time exploring this today. 💗 Take care.
