04.21.23 - Morning Meditation - Stories
Good morning, friends. How are you?
I know I've told this story before about when I was in the Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training in New York. There was construction happening next door to the studio that we were in and Kelly Morris pointed out how the noise from the workers might be aggravating for us, but for them they were doing work. It was the sound of progress.
I think about this example often when I think about the stories that I tell myself. When someone cuts us off in traffic or something else happens that we might find aggravating, often we immediately find the story that it's somehow about us. But it's not more often than it is, I think. We make the story about us because that's what we do: we're experiencing our life. But there's more to that (or sometimes less in terms of stories).
So today, we explore loosening the grip on our stories. In terms of the construction noises: the truth of it is that it's just noise and neither interpretation of it is wrong or right except to the person experiencing it that way.

In other news: we are going to continue our break around the live Saturday morning meditations. Hopefully we can begin them again next week. I'll still have a meditation for you tomorrow, so look for that.
Take care. 💗
Thanks for being here. It means so much to me. I hope you'll consider supporting these meditations by becoming a paid subscriber and/or spreading the word if you're finding benefit. 💗
